Atty. Arugay is the current Managing Partner of the Law Firm. He also heads the Firm’s Litigation Group and Corporate Group.
He has the pedigree of handling the Philippine Law compliance of a multinational IT Company, advising on the legal requirements for the hundred-million-peso launching of the said company’s software products. Atty. Arugay has represented clients in all court levels, including the Supreme Court En Banc. He has also represented clients in various administrative and quasi-judicial bodies, such as the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and the Office of the Ombudsman, among many others.
Today, he primarily handles appellate cases involving complicated questions of law, civil, criminal, commercial and labor litigation, government transactions, public interest cases, corporate law compliance, corporate governance concerns, labor law compliance, intellectual property transactions, and data privacy concerns.
Prior to establishing the Law Firm with Atty. Ammogao, Atty. Arugay worked as a Professorial Lecturer in Philosophy, and as a Legal Officer in various corporations.
Atty. Arugay obtained his Juris Doctor (Law Degree) from San Beda University – College of Law, where he ranked First in the Dean’s List. He obtained both his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Licentiate Degree in Philosophy from the University of Santo Tomas, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude for both degrees.
During his free time, Atty. Arugay, who is also a Professorial Lecturer, teaches Civil Law, Commercial Law, and Labor Law subjects to college students. When not at work or holding classes, Atty. Arugay loves reading books and playing with his daughters, Athena and Agatha, and fur baby, Nala. He can also be found taking his wife, Ara, to dates, food trips, and firing sessions at shooting ranges. Aside from being an experienced litigator, Atty. Arugay is also a brilliant chess player.
